5G for Automotive 2017
5G technology will be the enabler for autonomous driving. With its low latency of 1ms and the possibility to process huge amounts of data not only contents can be moved but objects. As a result, safety and more environmental friendly traffic along with enhanced comfort could be the future. Hence there are challenges to master in order to apply this technology. The automotive and the telecommunication industry as well as building owners, municipal governments, utility companies will have to find new ways of cooperation to support cellular V2X solutions to develop 5G by guaranteeing network densification and small cells, for in certain regions in Europe the network coverage is a challenge. Also, this technology is in the pre-standardization phase. A further question is how to exploit new frequency bands, for there are differences in regional spectrum assignments, which will have an impact on device complexity and cost.
This two day conference with an additional workshop day will bring together experts of telecommunication, automotive OEMs, Tier Ones, and suppliers of the technology as well as academia and authorities to discuss latest proceedings and the future outlook on the upcoming 5G technology, with a focus on automotive industry.
